Anyone who knows me really well knows that I love Wes Anderson’s movies. Not only do I enjoy his directing style but I love the dry, borderline dark, humor in his films. His movies have inspired me to do a few pieces of related art. I’m sure these two won’t be the last.
This painting is of the character Max Fisher from the movie Rushmore. Max is depicted in the cockpit of a small piper plane. This painting is acrylic on canvas and measures 22″ x 28″.
Last year I started tinkering in digital painting. Technically I’ve been painting digitally ever since I got my first computer. I really used to work Microsoft Paint pretty hard. I’ve jumped up to working with Adobe Photoshop and Corel Painter thanks to my awesome cousins who gave me a Wacom tablet. It took some getting used to.
This is the first digital painting I created with my new tablet. This is Bill Murray’s character Steve Zissou from the movie The Life Aquatic with Steve Zissou. It’s a simple portrait and a bit rough around the edges but I really enjoyed doing it.

I want to buy one of your Wes Anderson inspired paintings!
Hi, Rich. The past few days have been like a whirlwind. My wife and I just had our second child and he was 5 weeks early to boot! Sorry I haven’t been able to respond. In fact, I’m still at the hospital. Baby is fine but he had some issues from being so early.
Anyway, I’d be willing to sell my Max Fisher painting. I think the Zissou was digitally painted too small to make a decent print from. And because of my new son, it’ll be some time before I can paint again.
Get back to me if you’re still intrested.
First off: C O N G R A T S !!!
I understand as the father of a 4 year old girl and 2 year old boy.
When things slow down later, let me know. We’ll talk paintings

Kris,
Like you I really enjoy Wes’ work, and really dig your work here on the Zissou andMax Fisher. I would be interested in talking further about your work.
Thanks. I love Wes’ movies. I’m DYING for ‘Rushmore’ and ‘The Life Aquatic’ to hit bluray. I’m glad you like my paintings. I’m currently at the hospital due to my wife giving birth to our second child a few days ago but I’m always up to discussing my work.
Kris,
Congratulations on your second child! It’s been a while but I would like to discuss purchasing some of your work. Do you sell?
I LOVE these paintings! Please contact me if you’re selling them again. Thanks!
Hello, Kim. So sorry for the delayed response. I’ve been busy with an art project for an upstart company. Nice to hear you like my work! What art were you interested in purchasing?
-Kris
Hi Kris,
I like both paintings that you posted (Rushmore & zissou). Do you have prints available for sale?
Thanks,
Kim
Unfortunately I don’t have prints to sell. Zissou is just a small digital sketch which probably wouldn’t translate well to a print based on its size. The Max Fisher painting is for sale if you’re interested. Since it’s an original, slightly larger piece, it would be much more expensive than a print. I’ve had a few people inquire about this painting. Asking price is $700. It’s already professionally framed (basic black border).
Thanks for your inquiry. Let me know if you’re interested.
